Third time's the charm

Had the plumbers back out yesterday morning to check it, they did, said I should have hot water in a hour. Nope. So, had them back out in the afternoon where the discovered the guy who installed it didn't wait until the tank was full before connecting the electricity, which burned out the upper heating element (these are apparently notoriously finicky). So they drained the system again, replaced the upper heating element, refilled it, and voila, we now have hot water. And, unlike the previous (broken) heater, I can't keep the faucet on the nothing-but-hot-water setting or it'll be scalding (at the default factory heat setting). Huzzah!

Boosted

Thank heavens for small, independent pharmacies. The husband got his covid booster and flu shots yesterday at a little pharmacy a couple blocks from us, while on the way back from a mis-timed appointment at a chain pharmacy a little further up the road (about a week ago he booked an appointment online for the 3rd, they instead put him in for the following Friday). While the little pharmacy has an online appointment calendar that showed no vacancies, they were happy to have him fill out the paperwork online at home and come back same day and get both shots. Within about an hour of that, he was wiped out for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Thankfully he felt well enough this morning to go get long-planed haircuts this afternoon. Then after we got home I called the little pharmacy and was able to get my own covid booster and flu shots. Much to the husband's annoyance I was not immediately laid low by the double whammy, and it's actually just now, several hours later, as I'm getting ready to go to bed that I'm actually feeling any real side effects. I expect tomorrow will be a quiet day, but we had no plans anyway, and I'm just happy we're both boosted and flu shot now.
