I think this was the first time the two of us sat at our dining room table and had a real sit down meal with more than one dish. The more typical thing has been to sit at the high table in front of the balcony's sliding glass doors, or on a couch in front of the TV. The new lighting makes the dining room a real option now - you can actually see something in there! - so I surprised him with a full menu. The best thing was that all I needed to get was the bell pepper for the dirty rice; everything else was already in the kitchen.

YAY! Thanks! See, I tried shake 'n bake with vegan mayonaise and that was just a disaster. But I know that you're good at this kinda thing, so, I'll give this a shot.

Now. What's the deal with nutritional yeast? Is it like baker's yeast? I see it used in all these veggie recipes in weird ways, and since regular baker's yeast is the only yeast I know, I sort of substitute that in my head and think, "jeez, how WEIRD" and then I get turned off. As a consequence I never make anything with nutritional yeast. A little de-mystification is in order...
