The darned thing finally got here. Seems it was a security thing - the idiot new driver didn't know he actually had to deliver all the packages to each apartment first then drop off any he couldn't get rid of in the resident services office. He thought he could just schluff the whole load off on the building management. Poor fool.

But the iBook is here and sitting on the desk. Will connect and all that fun stuff shortly, once I finish looking at all the cables and what not.

Oh, and the Timbuk2 bag (to carry the aforementioned iBook) arrived five minutes after the iBook did. Sweet!

Now if my throat would just clear up so I could breathe normally... :-/

...when they didn't let any random delivery agent into your building, when they had to deliver to the office, and the building management did the rest?

Long gone, I'm afraid. At least here. Probably died about the same time they stopped delivering mail through the door slots and made you go get your own (which I believe happened sometime in the late 60s, at least in my own building).

The delivery agents do have to check in with management before they roam the halls, so it's not like they just wander in willy-nilly, though.
