On 3, you hook your bike into the trainer and then either prop the front tire up on a little wing thing or on a phone book, and then peddle away on your bike. Since you're at home, you can pop in a DVD of some sort (training oriented, or a movie, or whatever) or just watch TV and peddle until your heart's content. Much more entertaining than using the things at the gym.
