Morning Peeves

Ah, to be back at work again. Even if only for 2 days each week.

1. Metro was running late. Grrr.

2. I forgot my iPod speakers, so I'm having to use CDs again (*gasp* - the horror!). Thank heavens I left some in the office for just such an emergency.

3. Judge Mary Terrell, profiled as one of the "four worst judges in America" (see SmokefreeDC.org, quoting Reader's Digest, February 20, 2001), has ruled that the Smokefree DC ballot initiative is inappropriate for the ballot because it would appropriate funds. Even worse than that, she uses phrases like "especially unique" in the decision, which just irks the hell out of me (something is either unique or it's not - there are no gradations of unique, much like there are no gradations of being pregnant; either one is or one is not, period).

4. On the whole "sleep - good food - cardio - weights" continuum of good health, the "sleep" part has been sorely lacking this week. I need a nap. ;-p

Foodies

One of the mixed blessings of being on the grand jury is that I'm very close to my old office, which means that I'm close to all the old food places I used to go to in that neighborhood. That's the good part. The bad part is it makes the lack of decent eating establishments over here in the L'Enfant area all the more apparent. I miss having good, inexpensive Chinese food readily available for lunch. :-/

Conventions

I've been in government too long. It's affected my writing style. ;-p

Quotations

"Starbucks is not in the business of selling coffee; Starbucks is in the business of selling milk."

Discuss. :-)
