Resources

I just asked our law librarian if we could put a new general English dictionary on the wish list for this next year. We have two such beasts on stands in the library, but the copyrights on them are older than I am. Not by much, but still, it's kinda hard to look at current English usage when the dictionary predates your existence on this planet.

Tell them to buy something contemporary, one volume, and American as well. American Heritage Dictionary or Merriam Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary would do nicely. There is nothing I hate more than dated reference books. I'll stop being a library geek now...

Online dictionary? I haven't cracked an actual dictionary is probably 5 years, and I always cheat at scrabble...

You forgot to mention that your mom's a librarian, so it's in your blood, boy! ;)
