Superpowers

Like most good geeks, I've fantasized about having super powers. And if I'd get to/have to choose one, of late I've narrowed it down to telekenesis.

Mainly I think of this when I'm out on the running trail, like this morning, because I'd love to be able to toss all those damned rocks, stones and tree bits off the path and out of my way so I don't kill myself on them. So even if it were just a few pounds worth of lifting power, I'd take it.

Bam!

Hit the ground running at work this morning. Walked in, didn't even get my hat off, pulled in to get marching orders for the morning. Whee! Short meeting, some changes made to a letter from the Hill (yes, we're editing their letters to us - don't ask), then a party invite for our office open house (note to self: order cookies from Sticky Fingers tomorrow), now trying to get through all my emails from being out in training on Friday.

Whee!

Ran this morning, and it went well. Resting heart rate was pleasantly low this morning when I got up (the nutritionist has me checking it again), which translated over into the run. Amazing what actually getting at least 7 hours of sleep will do for you. ;-p 5k run, about 35 minutes. Not stellar, but par for the course these days. Wore shorts, which was a good idea - I've been wearing too much when I run on the weekends, especially as it tends to immediately shoot up 4 degrees the instant I walk out of the building, versus what the weather channel is saying online before I walk out. Did wear a hat, which was good since it began to drip some at about 20 minutes in.

So, busy busy today. My final commission meeing is tonight (HOORAY!), and hopefully I'll get through it without killing someone.

To all the movies I've loved before...

Anyone who's suffered through one of my favorite bad movies will enjoy the linked comic.

Countdown to freedom

I'm not official free from my commissioner duties until January 2, 2005 at noon, but tonight is the last meeting over which I must preside as chairman of the commission.

Looking

Tonight
Being
Over
And
Done
With!

To say the last few months have been like pulling teeth would be an understatement. But it's almost done, so I'm just trying to take a couple of deep breaths, dive in, and finish it up. We have an ambitious agenda, much of which I'm going to push to the next commission: let them deal with these non-pressing issues since they'll have to live with whatever we decide (I know, I'd never make a congressman, since their attitude seems to be "screw 'em now, not later"). Hopefully we can wrap it up without too much pain.
