Work up around 1:45 or so this morning, in the middle of a dream that [livejournal.com profile] lioncub and I had gone to adopt a child and somehow come home with triplets.  Or, rather, three of a set of quintuplets, the other two having been adopted by another couple.  It was all very, very weird.

But at least I got to imagine that the apartment had gone condo, we owned our unit outright, and that we'd also bought the two units below us and had merged them all together.  The spiral staircase was grand. ;-)

Anyway, time to hop in the shower, get cleaned up, then bike down to swim practice.

What do George W. Bush and Martha Stewart have in common?

They're both afraid of long sentences.

Busy?

We moved the fridge around in the kitchen, putting it on the wall where the desk/side table used to be.

Now we have to find something to go where the fridge was. :-)  Ikea, here we come.

There's actually several things we'll be looking at: wardrobes/storage for my room; bedside tables; kitchen sideboard/storage unit; &c.  Scary.  Won't be getting anywhere near that much stuff, but we'll see what we can find.  Oh, and of course, the ever-ellusive reading chair for my room. :-p

Swim workout was okay this morning, but not thrilling.  Did 400 meters, that was enough.  Kept faltering about 1/2 way to 3/4 of the way through the 50 meter lengths, so I cut it off rather than drown myself. Some of the drills they had us do were pretty leg-intensive, which was tough after the bike ride down. :-/  The bike ride back was really nice, as was the ride down, so at least that part of the overall workout was good.  I get to start riding in again this next week, so have to sit down and do the schedule and see when that's feasible.

I think the evening/late afternoon will be spent putting the kitchen back together and doing some inventory.  Most of the stuff is still out in the dining room, pending decisions on other stuff for the kitchen.  The rearrangement makes sense, and I think will free up more "work space" in the kitchen so we're not quite so limited in the counter space we have to use.  Honestly I just want to rip the wall out and re-do the cabinets and counter tops entirely, but that's not an option at the moment, dreams to the contrary (see previous post *grin*).

And what would any trip to Ikea be without the inevitable call to customer service?

The lamp I bought has no transformer, so no can plug into the wall.  They're supposed to call back, and they will mail one to me.  I'm not renting a car, or spending 4 hours on public transit, just to get a $40 lamp to work. :-p  At least this time it was a small thing and not a large piece, which is the more typical experience with missing pieces.

We did find a table for the kitchen, as well as a reading chair for me.  Both are assembled and working as promised (though I've not started restocking the kitchen shelves quite yet) with no problems in the assembly. Whee.

We also stopped off at an okay little Ethiopean place in Silver Spring for a late lunch/early dinner.  Was a pleasant surprise in an otherwise depressing little semi-suburban business strip.

I'm sure I'll take pictures of the stuff, but not quite yet.  Right now I just want a nap.
