Drivel

Kick-ass run this morning. I woke up early (5:30), and there was no paper, so no excuse to linger in the house. As such, I zipped out early and decided to do a longer run rather than speedwork, since I had the time. Did my 6k route (I think it's 6k, I need to get out and measure it on the bike), and did it in very good time. Felt comfortable the whole time, got nice and sweaty, never felt like it was a chore to be out. Too cool. :) These are the moments when running (or any exercise) are truly, truly fun.

Had time to get thoroughly cooled down before heading out the door, so no sweating through the work shirt this morning. Always a good thing in nice, humid DC in the summer.

Got to work and the body started screaming, "BAGEL!" at me, so I gave in and got one from the cafeteria (and yes, I did have b'fast at home). The joys of exercise - increased caloric needs. Have an apple and a banana for snacks later (gotta be semi-healthy, donchaknow).

So now I'm trying not to be too bored at documents I'm reading and reviewing. There's but so much you can read about no-longer-government-owned corporations before it starts to run together. ;-p

Just sent a mild nastygram via fax to my dentist's office. I've had an appointment scheduled with them for tomorrow for about six months, since my last cleaning. About an hour ago, which is about 24 hours prior to the appointment, they called to say "the office will be closed" and we need to reschedule. And the next available appointment is 2 weeks off.

Rescheduled the appointment, then stewed for a bit. So, wrote a brief letter expressing my disappointment (mildly - I'm not horribly pissed, but I am a bit miffed) and faxed it in. We'll see what gets said when I go back in there. In two weeks.

And I understand that things come up and you have to move things around on occasion. But something more than "the office will be closed" is needed for something like this. Hell, lie to me, tell me there's been an emergency, usew a euphemism for someone dying, I don't care, just don't tell me "the office will be closed" and expect me to just take it, especially in a situation where, were I to do the same, I'd be paying a cancellation fee in addition to the normal appointment fees.
