Swim to me
Nov. 4th, 2004 10:52 amReally good swim workout this morning. Did 25 yard repeats, with about a 15 second break between each one, for almost the entire 25 minutes (one lap of breast stroke, one of backstroke). That kept my heart rate at a reasonable rate, kept me moving, and I didn't feel that I had over-exerted myself for once. Felt good.
Plus there's that increasingly erotic smell of chlorine on the skin afterward. ;)
And the chocolate chip muffin from Sticky Finger as a post-workout snack. Plus Wild Berry Tisane from Teaism. *whistles innocently*
Been practicing that slowing down with my running, too. The last two runs were kept to about 1.5 miles, and I focused on keeping my heart rate lower (and, hence, ran slower than my norm). I've been pushing myself too hard, which then leads to more problems, so I'm backing off some, slowing down, and rebuilding my fitness from the ground up.

Back at work for the first day this week. A few things to tackle, but the world didn't come to an end because I was out (unlike the last place). 17 unread emails is doable, even if some of them do unwrap into unlikely puzzles to solve.
Two new (and I mean brand-spanking new, like, graduated this past Spring and just found out they passed the bar this fall new) attorneys in the office, so I'm no longer the youngest attorney here. Yay!!!! Not that this will stop the one manager from "expressing [his] regret at my extreme youth and inexperience" (his codewords for, "You'll have to deal with these issues long after I'm gone, sucka!"). *grin*

Yes, the election sucked, and yes, it's going to be a nasty 4 years, and yes, I'm sure this is what a lot of people felt in the middle of Reagan's terms, but you know, we muddled through then, too. The focus needs to go back to local issues and places. Progressives have let the conservatives set the agendas locally for too long, and that lack of focus on state and local races has hurt us, big time (think redistricting, which is controlled by state legislatures). And I have to agree with
todc, we're going to go into a rough time, economically, as the federal government drags us deeper and deeper into debt, so you'd be well advised to get yourself out of debt, especially with stuff that has variable rates, because interest rates are going to be going up. Either lock in those things you have to pay on, or get rid of them entirely and don't add a lot more to it. It's going to be a rough ride, but we'll make it through.
