Random bits

I love this time of year when coworkers simply activate their out-of-office messages without even bothering to look at them, let along customize them. So half the people are out until some time in November, a large percentage of the rest are out until some time over the summer, and a handful actually put in the correct date.

What I had to wrap is now wrapped. Unfortunately for me (because I hate wrapping), more is set to arrive over the next couple days.

Staff on the Hill are still working (!!!), even though their bosses are long gone. And while President Senator Manchin has killed the current BBB bill, I'm still getting asked for help in drafting/fixing random parts of it. From previous experience these efforts will likely show up in some future piece of legislation, because nothing really dies on the Hill.

It's actually cold here finally. Was 28F (-2C) when I first looked at the watch this morning. Contrast that with temps that almost hit 70F (21C) several times this past week.
