Order your credit reports. One from each of the credit reporting bureaus.
I share a name with my father; it's the same but for the roman numeral after mine. Because of this, it appears that my account is tied to his, and I have to get them untied with each of the three agencies. Of the three, I was only able to get onto Equifax' web site and actually order and see my credit report. The things I found wrong so far:
Hopefully the user name and password will arrive from Experian in the next couple days (theirs was, last time I checked, the most messed up of the three). Transunion, on the other hand, wouldn't even give me a phone number to call and confirm my identity, they only gave me the option to receive the report in paper form via the mail. Dweebs.
The joys of trying to make sure your credit is okay.
The weird thing was, on the phone with Equifax (and Experian) I had to list off two or three different credit accounts and either the limit or the current balance in order to confirm my identity. So it's not like their computers don't have this information, but it's not showing up on the actual credit report. How. Freakin'. Bizarre.

- The roman numeral is wrong (in fact, they list it as an arabic numeral, albeit the wrong one).
- The 'current' address listed is over 5 years old.
- They only list two different accounts as being open, both student loans, and none of my credit cards, the other student loans, etc.
- I have no employment history. It looks as if I've never worked in my life.
