Cleaning up

I hauled several boxes of stuff out of my office today. Diplomas, mementos, sports coats, and lots and lots of legos. I left a mug, a tumbler, a water bottle, and some coffee to use this upcoming week, and to take home on Friday. Only time I've ever used the parking garage at work.
So now it's (almost) all sitting in the living room, which will drive the husband nuts when he gets home from NY on Monday. I think the new office is slightly smaller, more in line with contemporary space allocations. So not all of it will end up going in, which means figuring out what to do with the rest of it.
It's been such a mix of feelings. Sad that I'm leaving the office I've been in for the last sixteen years, but really excited at the new opportunity and getting to know the ins and outs of the legal stuff for a new agency. And a small one - both of my previous agencies were cabinet-level ones, and the Small Gubm'nt Agency is not. And I'm definitely looking forward to not being involved with anything that might get someone impeached.
So one more work week, then the holiday weekend, then right back to work. And if the weather holds, I might even finally get a real, honest agency orientation. I never had the real orientation at either of my prior agencies - for the first Big Gubm'nt Agency I started in the middle of the second week of a pay period, and at the second BGA there had been an ice storm the previous night so the vast majority of employees weren't there to greet us and do the normal orientation. I could probably teach most of the standard topics at this point, but I'm actually looking forward to the normalcy of it.
