Okay, this is why I try and buy organic produce - just got done eating a Safeway-purchased orange. When done eating it, my hands were covered with this orange/brown gunk, presumably from the wax and other junk they coat the fruit (pesticides, "freshness agents," etc.) with either pre or post picking. I never have this mess when I get good organic produce.

Blech.

Ya that's pretty much why you have to run regular produce thru the dishwasher before eating. One of the stores around here (Jewel Osco) seems to wax their cucumers so heavily I wonder if anyone really uses them for eating... (uhhh I think that's wax)
