"Hello, I'm calling on behalf of the radio stations in Washington. Is there a female between the ages of 18 and 24 in the household that I could speak to?"

Um, NO! And even if there were a female between those ages in the household, do you think I'd hand the phone to a stranger calling on behalf of "the radio stations in Washington"? Please!

I suggest using what I did earlier today:

"Is the lady of the house in?"

"She is, but I'm afraid she's in the loo having a rather heavy period!" (in British accent)

They hung up. ;-)

well, I get calls all the time asking for "R" to which I usually use either:

1) I'm sorry, he's mute

2) I'm sorry, he's in a coma right now

or my fave,

3) no, he's not here, and neither are S, T, U, and V
