Back again

The space boot is back on today. I don't know what I did to my foot (I don't recall stubbing it, or kicking anyone), but I'm having pretty nasty pain somewhere around the base of "the little piggy that stayed home." This in turn has made me walk funny (limping), which in turn has caused the ankle to become sore. Have an appointment with the podiatrist tomorrow, but in the meantime, the boot makes things much easier - no limping.

I also have the head cold that [livejournal.com profile] lioncub caught, though mine is not perhaps as bad as his case of it is. This forced us to cancel dinner plans this evening (not wanting to infect the guests, you see), but another good night of rest should help. I mostly slept through the night, though did not want to fall asleep when the head hit the pillow, despite my apparent exhaustion. Silly body.

TV Rant

Okay, I really wish American Idol weren't on Faux just so we didn't support them when we watched it. That said, there were commericals from show called The Swan last night. Didn't watch it, but from what I could tell about the show:

1. They pick 17 women and convince them that they're ugly.
2. They have plastic surgeons work on the women without any consultation with the women themselves, as if there are all just things to be shaped like clay.
3. They prevent the women from seeing themselves until they're ready to humiliate them on TV by watching them cry over their new "pretty" selves.
4. They then go on to have a contest between the women so they can tell 16 of the 17, "Hey, you may be 'pretty' now, but you're still not pretty enough to be our finalist!"

Sick. Just plain sick.

Okay, so I was half-out of this morning and not able to concentrate on work, so I checked some sites once more about dumping my AT&T Wireless account and getting something else less expensive than the $70-odd I'm paying now.

Verizon had pretty much nothing under $59.99 for a basic plan (ouch), and most that looked comparable to what I had now were more like $79.99 or so (double ouch).

With T-Mobile, on the other hand, I can get more than a sufficient number of minutes, picture stuff, txt msgs, etc. for about $20 less per month than I'm paying now (mid-$50s). And I'm not sure it wouldn't be worth just sucking up the $0.25 per picture email thing anyway and cutting out that automatic charge for the included 20 emails a month (I don't see using it that often, but that can be revisited if need be).

So, just have to pick out a phone and get down to the store sometime this weekend, I think, and switch over. Buh-bye, AT&T! I'll miss being able to get calls in the Metro tunnels, but you know, I don't use that feature often enough to justify staying with the higher-priced plan.
