Wonky

Has LJ gone wonky again?  This is the second time this week that my "friends list" page decided to put the top of the page (the most recent entry) somewhere down around the middle of the page.  I know it'll grow out of it as y'all post today, but in the meantime it's an annoyance.

At least all the coding isn't gone like it was for a short while on Wednesday.  White page, black text, photos and not much else.  Silly LJ servers...

Hmph

Okay, I can tell today is going to draaaaag along. I've been here for over an hour and the day has gone soooo slow. Perhaps the 11:00 meeting will help pass the time better than research into government (non-tax) debt collection procedures.

Does remind me of a story, though. At my last Big Government Agency we switched to a new accounting system the last 2.5 years I was there. That allowed us to make electronic payments to vendors (no more checks, just send it directly to their accounts - much easier all around). Well, it seems that if you do business with the federal government, and you get electronic payments through the Treasury, but you owe money (taxes, other debts), the Treasury will deduct what you owe from any payments we make. So one of the first vendors one of our field offices paid owed a big chunk of back taxes. He was a bit put out that his $2k+ payment was deposited in the amount of $19.00. ;-) That's what you get for not paying your taxes, buddy. When it comes to dealing with the federal government, it's Caveat vendor.

Get to ask the boss to go take two videotape classes for my continuing legal education requirement for the Virginia bar. Whee. The classes are, for me, a total waste of my time and energy. But there's a very large lobby for the things down in Richmond, which makes a great deal of money off of lawyers who need these credits, so I don't see it changing.

I had thought my work computer had been migrated over to the shared operating environment, but they just came in to inventory it today to migrate it this weekend. *grumble* This probably means I'll lose Yahoo Messenger here, as well as the ability to install anything else on the computer. *grumble* Paranoid control freaks. ;-p

Just got invited to a fisting party, but it's tomorrow evening, and I'll be at [livejournal.com profile] cjliotta and [livejournal.com profile] xavier78's place for their housewarming. So much for advance warning. And you know, sex is nice, but I'll take friends and previous plans over sex parties any day of the week; one doesn't dump plans with friends for mere sex.

Not that I won't try to find out in a more timely manner when the next party is... ;-)

Bad movie

I am hard pressed to say what was the best/worst part of The Apple.  Was it dancing around the apple itself?  Was it the psychadelic drag queens and leather boys?  Or was it meeting the hippies for the first time?  It's hard to say, but this is definitely a marvelous addition to my bad movie collection.  I look forward to inflicting it opon showing it to you all some time soon. :-D
