Commuting

Commute this morning was fun. Not. No buses on 16th on my way down (the entire way down - didn't even get passed by one, so waiting would not have helped). Get into the Metro just as a train is pulling out. Next train is a 4 car which was packed solid (why run 4 cars any time before 10 am?). Whee!

No run this morning, slept in some instead. Didn't sleep well last night at all, so that was needed more than a run.

Saw The Importance of Being Earnest last night. If Arena keeps up this level of production, we're switching all of our tickets, not just the half season we did this year. :-/ Was very cheesy, very over the top, and not terribly well done. I mean, it was okay, but only okay. Which is silly, considering how much good theater there is in this town, that one of the oldest continuous theater companies should be putting on tired, dull performances. One wishes Zelda would get her butt back down from NY and kick the asses of the folks who run the theater that bears her name.

Forgot to bring in some clementines or the tea I bought this weekend, too. Bought some fruit on the way in, so I have snacks, thankfully.

Great article on the shortcomings of Dulles Airport.

Sluttitude

I'm not taking that "Slutcom" test. I know where I am, most of you do, too, so there.

Bonus points to my cousin [livejournal.com profile] eyow for suggesting "Hoovered" as another way of saying "wolfed down" yesterday. Gotta love it.

Not been feeling much in the slut mood of late, actually. Too much to do and deal with around the holidays, and just generally too busy. Exercise is ramping up (will be moreso as the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler approaches, Bib #3357), which means I need more sleep than I'm getting, which cuts out most late night booty runs (not that I've made any of those in a while). The exercise is just more important than sex at this point (and yes, I know sex can be a form of exercise, but between screwing around for 40 minutes and running for 40 minutes, the running is more valuable to my fitness goals).

Am dealing with something dealing with my last Big Government Agency, as has happened before on occasion here, and in doing so have realized that I can, in fact, confirm some of the budgetary woes that the old BGA is claiming, since I had to deal with the same fairly regularly when I was there. Not that it means I want to give them a dime, mind you, as my duty is to my current client BGA, but I can see where they're coming from and confirm the details to the higher ups here for them to make the decision as to whether or not to fund this mess.

Love/Hate

(if someone could make me an icon based on the scene in Rocky Horror where Meatloaf/Eddie revs the bike's engine and you see "love" and "hate" tattooed on his knuckles, I'd be grateful)

We have a pretty good web based training system here at work. They push through annual updates so you can do them at your desk and not have to go to some big assembly and be bored to tears in public, rather than in private.

We're currently required to take the security update. The whole thing, based on their estimated times, is supposed to take about an hour, and includes 7 or 8 modules.

I've been doing this for an hour now, and I'm not quite done with module number two. This is because the pages in their system take 5 minutes each to load, or something ludicrous like that. Thankfully it'll remember where I was so I can pick this up tomorrow, but what a pain in the ass! If you're going to put the training up on the web, ensure that the download times are within reason and don't make me feel like I'm trying to load a web page over a 28.8 dial up connection, folks!

[nitpicking]

Yes, folks, the jury has recommended that Peterson get the death penalty.

That does not mean, however, that he has received a death sentence.

The judge still has to impose the sentence upon the defendant, and while it is likely he will follow the jury's recommendation, there are other factors he can look at it to mitigate the sentence to something less than death.

Once he's pronounced the sentence in court, and it's death, then you can say that Peterson's received the death penalty. However, until that is done, he's not been sentenced.
