Thrill-a-minute

So far the most exciting part of my day so far has been ordering new checks. I had to call the printing company because their web site wouldn't let me update my address, which they had from the last order however-many-years-ago that was. This was necessitated by writing my last check this morning, in a batch of three that I had to send out. Along with the new place came new bills, and unfortunately a couple of them are stuck in the "we're going to charge you a 'convenience fee'" territory for online payments (even ones from a debit card or checking account). No thank you! Whatever, hopefully it keeps some poor sap employed, opening my little envelope and extracting and processing the paper check. And hey, anything to prop up the US Postal Service, $0.55 a pop. I guess those check writing lessons we had way back in 6th grade have paid off.

Kitty Haunts

One of the fun things about owning cats is that while they do tend to be creatures of habit, they also like to change up those habits from time to time. The latest fun thing has been that the male cat has decided he now wants to crash inside our walk-in closet. Fine and dandy, and we usually leave the door cracked anyway (the latch doesn't catch) but when he tries to leave, if the door isn't open wide enough for his nose to get into the gap, or if he pushes on it too early, he ends up shutting himself inside. Just now I thought perhaps a cat had locked themselves in the laundry closet, so I checked there, no cat. Back to the office. More noises, checked the closet this time, and himself wanders out. Silly beastie. Apparently he's also been locking himself in overnight, and has awakened the husband to come release him from his closet cage. I take the husband's word at that, as I happily slept right through it.
