The folks who make "veggie slices", which has been one of my options for fake cheese slices, apparently reformulated their product to add ... more milk to it, which explains why the last two times I tried the newest pack I've had stomach issues. It always had some milk protein (casein) in it to allow it to melt better, but that was it. The ingredient list I just read off the package now has milk and cream in there, and while it claims to be lactose free, my stomach says otherwise. Oh well, tossed those out. Will pick up some more daiya stuff from the local organic market instead.

So far the most exciting part of my day so far has been ordering new checks. I had to call the printing company because their web site wouldn't let me update my address, which they had from the last order however-many-years-ago that was. This was necessitated by writing my last check this morning, in a batch of three that I had to send out. Along with the new place came new bills, and unfortunately a couple of them are stuck in the "we're going to charge you a 'convenience fee'" territory for online payments (even ones from a debit card or checking account). No thank you! Whatever, hopefully it keeps some poor sap employed, opening my little envelope and extracting and processing the paper check. And hey, anything to prop up the US Postal Service, $0.55 a pop. I guess those check writing lessons we had way back in 6th grade have paid off.
