Changed, Technology, SMarch weather
Mar. 13th, 2022 11:28 amI'm happy to say I think I got to and adjusted all of the clocks in the house that have to be adjusted manually, before I went to sleep last night, so they, along with all the automatically adjusting ones, were all correct this morning. Eight in total, with at least one on each floor. Oops, no, missed one that I spotted just now (the emergency weather radio in my office). So nine, I guess. Not bad for people who like clocks. A shame the husband doesn't like chiming clocks, I have a lovely tabletop one my grandfather made, but the ticking drives the husband up the wall.
In unrelated news, we started reading a comic called The Monkey Prince, based loosely on the Chinese stories of the Monkey King and the Journey to the West. The authors sprinkle a bare amount of Mandarin characters throughout, with no translation, and while I got the gist of what was being said I wanted more than that, even though my Mandarin skills are almost nil at this point. So I hauled out my old dictionaries, and was having fun reminding myself how to use them, when in the midst of trying to find a particularly frustrating character I remembered I had a translation app on my phone which allows one to simply write the character to look it up. Downloaded it to my iPad mini, hauled out the pen, and I was in business, no paper dictionary needed. Not that I regret refreshing my dictionary skills, but writing them on the screen was much simpler. Yay technology.
Random SMarch snowstorm hit yesterday, derailing plans to go see friends for a game day. So instead the husband did homework and I continued wandering through the Forbidden West. Have the first three data cores, now it's side quest time before moving onto the next main quest item. Whee!
