Okay, in the hierarchy of geeks, I am but a minor player. But I'm comfortable enough with ripping the guts of my computer out and replacing things at will that when I need to upgrade, I do it.

This being said, I cannot get this extra parallel port card to work to save my life. ARGH!

Multiple parallel ports? Interesting... What for? =) It's possible that your computer may be out of IRQs, though I would hope not. You might want to consider getting a parallel port hub or a parallel-to-USB converter. =)

awww, major suckage. Yeah, from the sound of things, you either don't have enough IRQs or your motherboard isn't properly designating them. You (or I -- when Rich and I visit) could play with your BIOS settings to try and get it to work. =)

And no, I don't know what IRQs are lol.. I just know your motherboard has to designate them and with USB, you never have to worry about them. ;)

I have a messload of USB devices but only two ports. =( One of these days I'll get a USB hub hehe

Hmmmm, do you have the newest drivers for the parallel port PCI card? =)

Lordy, computers drive me batty sometimes. I've had such wierd behavior from them as of late for no good reason, its starting to scare me. My work computer continuously installs this printer we have in the office. Every few minutes it adds another install of the printer, so I had to switch it over to another server (which I have to log in manually to, but everyone else is connected to by default). That was really annoying since every day I'd have to delete the printer over 50 times.

Freakish. If it was me, I'd just format the whole drive and upgrade =D ;)

I'm such a geek. hehe

Yeah, Plug N Play isn't all its cracked up to be *BUT* I prefer it to assigning everything manually hehe. =)
