Am still druggy, which leads to lack of sleep, which leads to silly posts.
Actually, a fellow candidate for this fall's elections called me a little bit ago as he is also feeling like an insomniac this evening and we talked politics and flyers/postcards and fund raising.
I have to say, the one thing I dread in this whole process is fundraising. But if I'm going to do any sort of mailing, it's going to be necessary. And I will have to do something since I have opposition this time around.
I'm guessing from the numbers of voters last time around that fewer than 500 people will come out to vote. I'll get exact numbers from the voter database, but I'll venture a guess that this means somewhere around 1,000 voters in my district. Now, granted, that may be an overestimate on how many will turn out since this isn't a presidential election as the 2000 election was, but it's probably a good working number.
To do a four-color print postcard and mail it to 1,000 people would cost around $515.00 from Modern Postcard. That means something less than 21 people giving the maximum allowable contribution of $25.00 each, depending on how much of my own funds I kick in.
That's not bad, actually. I could obviously do something less slick than professional postcards, too, but that's not terribly expensive, all things considered. And the name of the game is name recognition, which the postcards would get.

You can count on me....
Date: 2002-09-28 06:56 am (UTC)I would venture to guess that the same can be said for Bug, Roger, Brian and Robert.... you're over 1/4 of the way there already! Just make a list and ask...
