I had forgotten how... pervasive scents can be when my neighbors cook during the day.

I read somewhere that bacon was the #1 food sited as why people gave up being vegetarian.

Heh...that's almost not surprising. I almost never eat pork (partly because of one traumatic Thanksgiving where we went down to my grandparents house and slaughtered a hog...), but sometimes, when I go out for breakfast with my boyfriend, something in me insists on getting a slice or two of bacon with my pancakes. :O

That was traumatic? I remember making the sausage, but didn't think much of it at the time. Now, of course, it's pretty damned disugusting, but I don't remember much of the weekend past the boiling down of the parts (which stunk to high heaven).

I mostly remember stirring the boiling pot too, and also how all the leftover bits went into the sausage...and then at dinner I started to think about how there had been this live animal, and now we were eating meat (I'm sure it wasn't the same creature, but my brain connects random things sometimes) that had come from an animal that had been alive at some point, and was pretty grossed out by that concept.

It's also possible I was dating the Jewish boy at the time, which didn't help.

You know that grandfather says that there are some topics that polite people don't discuss in public - sex, politics, and the ingredients in sausage. :)
