I have been in a foul mood most of the day today for some reason. My internal temperature control was a bit off earlier (I was freezing in my office until I got a mug of hot tea post-lunch), and I've just been in a foul mood.
Blech.
I think a large part of it that I am furious with my parents at the moment. Not just miffed, not just pissed, furious.
I get sworn in on Thursday as a Commissioner. I've been here in the DC area for 4.5 years, 3.5 in the city itself. Not once have my parents come to visit. They live 3.5-4 hours away, down in the Norfolk/Va Beach area. I asked them to come up for my birthday, no go 'cause Dad was working on his dissertation, so I overlooked it then. I also asked them to come up this week/weekend for the swearing in and to play tourist a bit here in town. I have heard not one word from them about it since I saw them on the 14/15 of December. And it's not like I've not heard from them, period; I get almost daily emails from Mom about this, that and the other, so I do communicate with them.
I gave up my time, and
lioncub's, to go down and see them for Dad's graduation, because it was a major milestone for him (his Ph.D.). I've visited them multiple times a year since I've been here. I would think that you son being sworn in as an elected public official would rank a little high on those "life moments" ratings.
*snarl*
Anyway, they've released us, so I shall head home here shortly and go get some groceries for the next day or two. Something more than veggie burgers is needed at home. Or at least lettuce and tomato to put on them, too.

sidenote..
Date: 2002-12-31 01:26 pm (UTC)my parents are too pre-occupied with themselves to care what goes on in my life either, and they live 30 minutes away. I practically had to threaten death upon my mother to get her to come to the births of my children. *sigh* But we love them anyway, eh?
