Your estimated wait time is...
Mar. 31st, 2003 10:13 amHave I mentioned how little I enjoy being "on hold" for anyone? Especially when this is the second over 15-minute-expected-wait-time I'm enduring after I was disconnected the last time while they were trying to transfer me to someone who could actually help?
*ahem*
And, you know, I'm really not this pissed-off a person, but I worry that this is the impression I give here on LJ, mainly because I post these little annoyances more than other things. It's easier to post when one is peeved than when one is happy, I suppose. But I really am a much happier person than this thing lets on. Really. I mean it.
;-)
In better news (since I just got through to the line), I now have an appointment at 2:15 to take care of this instead of 4pm tomorrow. Is good to be firm and speak with a deep, male voice (yeah, it's sexist, but when I need something, I use it).

Date: 2003-03-31 11:10 am (UTC)Shortly after I returned to the US a number of years ago, I had to find out why my mail had not been forwarded where I told them to send it. So I called the post office. They put me on hold. I put them on speaker phone. I listened to their musak, interrupted by the occasional "who are you holding for?" to which I spoke a memorized answer.
Finally, someone who actually wanted to take care of me came on the line. "Ho w long have you been holding?" My speaker phone had an elapsed timer on it. "One hour and six minutes," came my cheery reply. I had got lots of quiet work done in that hour. Lucky I didn't need a bio break.
