If they're raising base Metrorail and Metrobus fares here in DC in July, and bus tokens will be good before or after the rate increase, what's to stop someone (*whistles innocently*) from going and buying a bunch of tokens now at the lower price and cheating them out of the extra dime later? I mean, besides ethics. ;-)

There is nothing un-ethical about doing something that is absolutely legal.

Yes. I mean, part of the reason they're raising prices is because they need more money. If you stock up on tokens now, you're essentially giving them a boost now, which helps them out. ;)

I've always suspected bus tokens are modern-day fairy gold that turn into leaves at dawn the next day. Which is why I never had any when I really needed them, no matter how many I had bought.

Either that, or the person standing behind me on the bus wasn't coping a feel, but actually liberating the roll of bus tokens I'd just purchased. And I thought he cared.

I'm gonna buy them at $1.10 and sell them at $1.20. Make lots of money I'm gonna!

My ex-roommate beat you to the idea when Philly upped their token prices last year. ;) Of course he spent $200 on them. o_O
