If the opposition won't play fair, then just leave town!

Hehehehe.

Gist of the article, the Democratic members of the Texas House of Representatives fled the state to deny the Republicans a quorum on voting to redistrict the Congressional House seats. This was already done, post-Census, by the then Democratic controlled legislature, and they object to the Republicans redrawing the lines two years after it was last done.

My favorite part was the New Mexico Attorney General (D) telling the Texas state rangers that they were not empowered to enter New Mexico to hunt down their legislators, but that he would put out an APB for, "politicians in favor of health care for the needy and against tax cuts for the wealthy."

Wow. I hadn't heard about some of the more extreme excesses of the republican redistricting plan. That's truly a beautiful move on the part of the Democrats. Shut the fuckers down until they learn to play nice.

This will, of course, result in amendments to the Texas constitution making this an impeachable offense or somesuch. Our state goverment is set up in such an odd way that amendments are easy to pass and necessary to get a lot of surprisingly basic work done.

Texas Rocks!

This is great! I don't care if it does tie up the democratic process. This is what politics and being an American is all about -- Standing up for what you believe in.

These men and women are principled heroes and shouldn't be hunted down like felons but revered as champions of democracy.

Shame on the Republicans! If they had their way (and some day if we don't act they might!), blacks would be scrubbing our floors, latinos would be scrubbing our toilets and asians would be scrubbing our clothes. All the while, women would be barefoot, pregnant and cooking while the gay people were swinging from trees.

This is what happens when our young people don't get involved with politics.

Vote. Vote early and vote often.

ha ha

This is great! Republicans publicly derided their foes for running away from a fight -- a very serious accusation in Texas. Someday I'll have to live in Texas just to experience Texan 'tude first hand....

I think the best part is :

Today, New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid said lawyers for Perry asked her if Texas Rangers might be allowed to make arrests in New Mexico. Madrid, a Democrat, said no. "Nonetheless," she added in a statement, "I have put out an all-points bulletin for law enforcement to be on the lookout for politicians in favor of health care for the needy and against tax cuts for the wealthy."
