Sat down, worked out a budget, seeing what, if anything, more I can afford in the way of a gym.

If I really make this much each month, and only spend that much (thank you, Quicken), and this much is more than that much, where else does the stuff go, that I always seem to be scraping?!?!?

Harrumph.

Now, large purchases aside (eye glasses...), I should have a nice amount each month to squirrel away or play with. This shall have to be investigated further...

It sounds like an old high school Math test. "two trains leave San Fransisco at the same time, one traveling north, the other east, one goes 55MPH, the other...." ;)

Well, if you'd like, we could talk about other holes.

Seriously, though, you might look at the bills' due-dates and see if you can move one or more of them to the other half of the month to better-allocate recurring expenses. Some financial institutions are willing to adjust due-dates and maybe one or more of your credit cards' issuers would be. I've had less luck in the past adjusting utility company payments' due-dates, but maybe they don't suck as badly now. Just a thought.
