03/06/21 p.m. 2:11:01 run in RCP (~>10 mi). Several discoveries today on an absolutely gorgeous day for a run (high 60s, low humidity, nice breeze, mostly sunny). First, body glide is a good thing between the legs where the thighs come together. Second, some sort of carbohydrate gel is my friend on long runs. Those were the good things. The negative things were that I also need to put body glide on my inner upper arms if I'm going to run in a sleeveless top (the right arm got mildly irritated by rubbing on the shirt, and not noticed until I stopped), I need to take more than one gel and have one after an hour and another in about 1/2 an hour to 40 minutes. I didn't quite hit the wall, but I did come close. Walked most of the last 1/2 mile because I just didn't have the energy to run it. No blisters, so the socks worked. My left nipple is a tad sore and there's a definite rubbed patch on there, so that'll need body glide or something else as well. All told, not a bad run. I ran all the way down past the Lincoln and over Memorial Bridge to the other side of the Potomac in Virginia and back. First time I've run in Virginia since 1999, I think. So, not bad. I've stretched, but I know I'll be sore tomorrow. All part of the learning process.

Have you started having to tape your nipples yet?

Bodyglide on the nipples should do the trick quite nicely.

In marathon training the recommended food intake is either a gel packet or 1/2 a bar every 45 minutes, FWIW. What flavor/brand did you try? (My all-time favorite is CarbBoom's Apple Cinnamon.)

LOL, imagine doing it for 15 hours.

You'll never want to see sugar again. ;-)

Personally, I would say no solids for events under 6 hours or so. For longer events, you definitely need something. I'm a big fan of nice salty peanuts and poptarts. :)

LOL, fair enough. To be honest, it's a simple purchase really. ;-)
