Boris is not a "loud motor" cat. Natasha, on the other hand, is very, very loud. This makes it hard to tell when Boris is pleased, if only because of the seeming lack of purr in comparison to Natasha.

So, when he demanded attention this morning, I picked him up and placed him on my lap (where he is now), and as I read my friends list, I rested a hand against his chest, fingers curled up on his throat. He's purring nicely. :-)

We need to set up a competition between Natasha and Piruli (http://www.happydino.com/purr.html). Especially right after he has been to the vet, and still has that throaty cough they get after being intubated for the anaesthesia, he can be very loud indeed.

Ahhh, the lovely, soothing effect of a purr. I worry that there is something wrong with mine (a 19 year old solid black domestic shorthair named Antigone) if she doesn't start purring the moment she is in my lap.

BTW, I love your userpics--mightiliy expressive. : )
Just thought I'd chime in, since friended ya' today.
