Well, 'tis strep. It's also the strangest case of strep I've ever had. No fever, no side effects except the very, very sore throat. Weird.

After the doctor's office, which of course took all freakin' morning because they're slower than molasses there, I went up to Chinatown to the Da Hua market for groceries. In my reading of The Garden of Vegan they had mentioned going to asian markets and getting different noodles and what not, so I did that. Came home with 5 different kinds of noodles to try out, as well as sundry other things, including frozen baozi (steamed stuffed bread).

And let me tell you, I am in heaven now.

Understand, Chinese food is the ultimate comfort food for me. Other people have mac 'n cheese, or hamburgers or whatever. I have Chinese food. Whipped up a thing of mushroom baozi, put together some dipping sauce (soy sauce, vinegar, seasame oil, some hot sauce), and sent myself right back to Taiwan with the flavors. Am a very, very happy strep patient. :-)

Speaking of Asian groceries, I went to the wonder that is Eden Center (http://www.edencenter.com) two weekends ago. It has more a Vietnamese focus, sure, but gosh it's great. Lots. O. Noodles. And plenty mock meats, because of the Buddhist thing. It's also not too long a walk from the Falls Church metro, either.

It's not bad getting there without a car! It's only a twenty minute walk from the metro. With a cart you could get tons of groceries.

I got frozen beancurd, made in weird little bowtied shapes. I need to figure out what to do with it.

I knew I couldn't be the only one.

HA! People call me nuts because Chinese food is my comfort food, too. When I got out of the hospital that was the first thing I wanted.

Feel better soon!
