I've had the nips done before, and I loved them, but can't do much of anything prior to the 1/2 marathon at the end of August. Grrr. Silly Moose, signing up for a race that keeps me from being able to stick bits of metal through my flesh. ;-)

I'm confused - indulge me, why does being in a marathon prevent you from metalizing your nipples??

I had to take my nip rings out before because the running was irritating them too much and was causing them to be not-well-behaved.

Then there's the whole "avoiding swimming for a month or two" thing on top of that (which may happen anyway if I go ahead and get the scrotal piercing I'm wanting as my reward after the half marathon - it's either that or get my tongue pierced).
