That was offered (as long as I'd just lie there naked), but I'm too much of an, um, hands-on person and I was afraid my instincts in that regard would lead to further injury, which would be a bad thing. I want this leg and arm healed and done with.

Just take a camera for protection, no self-respecting amateur porn star would dare interfere with a guy with a camera. No matter how wild sex gets in porn, the camera guy is always safe.

Plus it give whole new levels of meaning to the phrase embedded reporter.

Then you could've lay down, had someone tie you up to immobilize you, and then not worry about the "hands on" aspect quite so much. There're always possibilities.

So which is worse: Getting an invitation to a sex party which you cannot attend, or never getting invitations to sex parties?

Worse is getting the invitations and knowing you can't attend. Prior to invitations I was able to live blissfully unaware of them and not feel the slightest desire to do so. But once you've been invited, it's terribly flattering. ;-)
