[livejournal.com profile] lioncub seemed a bit disturbed that my current reading is The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli.

Can't think why. ;-)

I picked up that, Citizens Dissent and The Communist Manifesto and Other Revolutionary Writings: Marx, Marat, Paine, Mao, Ghandi and Others. They were all inexpensive, and all interesting looking. I'm a book addict.

I'm reading: Rick Steves Portugal and Spain, not really a book, but his narrative is good.

I need to read that Kunstler guy.

We should have an LJ book club? Where we all get the same book and discuss!

We have not seen great things done in our time except by those who have been considered mean.

Therefore it is unnecessary for a prince to have all the good qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always to observe them is injurious.
