What's in the online profile:

5'6", 157, pierced, goatee, runner/cyclist/swimmer. Mostly top, occasionally bottom when in the mood. Mutual j/o with lots of nipple play is a major turn-on.

What I'd love to put in the online profile, just to counteract the silliness I see in other profiles:

Subtle light blond highlights; couldn't tan to save my life (so I hope you like your men blindingly white); no visible stomach muscles; I'd not go so far as to describe myself as "masculine" but I can change the oil in your car and fix a flat; I'm more likely to be described as 'cute' than 'handsome'; never quite know what I want to do in bed save attack you but I'm good at following clues; ain't no way in hell I'm doing drugs or barebacking (though if you want to use poppers I could care less, just don't hold the bottle near my nose); dates are not out of the question but long term dating probably is because I don't have enough time for the men I'm dating now; I have an lovely bruise on my right thigh from a bike accident last week (see "blindingly white" comment, above) but the drugs are helping with that; and if you've made it through all of that and are still interested, drop me a line.

Do people actually meet based on gay.com ads/chats? (I haven't used it since moving to Massachusetts, but my luck at completing meetings from gay.com when I lived in Chicagoland was abysmal.) I've had better luck with EFnet IRC. :/

Well, it depends. I've got a bunch of friends still on EFnet so it's not completely useless. I've also been on EFnet since before it was called that (since 1988 or 1989 IIRC), but then I'm old.

I used to meet men all the time off whore.com, er, gay.com. Then that whole "having a life" thing came along. Amazing how that will cut down on your hooking up. ;-)

Considering the quantities of both life and hookups I've had over the past, oh, 2-3 years, the equation that as the amount of life one has increases the number of hookups decreases is really really depressing.

I feel your pain. I have two sets of glasses, the ones I wear indoors and the outdoors pair.

I prefer the outdoors pair, if only for the increased sunlight.

I have 2 pairs of Sunglasses and 2 pairs of regular.

Can't see inside with them, can see outside with out them.

Not to mention one pair od each is always supposed to be the car, but they never are.

Highway driving in the Dark doing 90, blind as a bat, not a good thing.

I see ads of that sort on manhunt.net fairly regularly (well, maybe 1 out of 20 or so). But I really think that it is the pics on manhunt that get you the responses, not the ad. gay.com is a bit different, since it is harder to see lots of pics there.

The long one also has the added benefit that you shouldn't have to sit through discussions about barebacking, drugs and poppers.
