I hate when people you're chatting with just disappear. :-p

(as opposed to saying "so, see ya!" or the like - common manners here, people!)

My personal rule is: if the conversation has been lulled for > 15 mintues, it is acceptable to sign off with no ending message.

That's because we all secretly hate you.

Check it!

If it makes you feel any better, that doesn't mean we still don't lust after you though. ;)

bah, you go idle on me all the time [where "all the time" is the 3 or so times we've chatted].

people who quit in the middle of an active converation: run through bandsaw

people who quit after conversation has been idle for a long while: whatever

devil's advocate

Sometimes it's not that the person just up and left and has no manners...it's that their connection died. I get knocked offline at home sometimes because the cordless interferes with the wireless network, and it occasionally rings! (similar to what happened in "the old days" of modems *g*) Or what's happened at work recently is that my network card's going bad, and I sometimes just lose the connection. Randomly. :P Just crap like that.

Once, you forgive them. Twice or more, they're rude fuckers and deserve a *zot*. :)

I used to get paranoid about it but now realise that normally the person has either:-

o crashed
o disconnected
o reset
o run away from the computer
o cats on fire downstairs /some household emergency

;)

I'm the only person on my msn of like 60 people that consistently says goodnight to everyone on it (who appears 'online' and not 'away or 'busy' etc) when I go to bed.

Sad. What irritates me more is people who leave their status as online but are away. And those who are there but set to busy or away or even worse yet 'out to lunch'.

If this was directed at me, I'm sorry. There was no rudeness intended.

Computer issues continued to crop up on the machine I was using. I ended up rebooting the machine, to try to clear them up and I ended up not logging back into AIM. In my defense, I was distracted by being on the phone with [livejournal.com profile] soxnboxrs. [*grin*]
