I hate incompetence

Go to Starbucks (a rareity for me). Order a Decaf Venti Soy Latte. I even make sure to order it in that order 'cause that's how they call it out. The cashier calls it, the folks call back without Decaf, the cashier corrects them. It comes up, it's full-test, not Decaf (and since I don't drink caffeine regularly anymore, the world does not need me on high-test). Strike one.

I wait a bit, they serve a few more people, I ask the lady if they're correcting it, the gentleman asks me what I had (there were two making coffee drinks), they start the process. I am getting a tad annoyed at this point. She gets it done, calls out a Decaf Venti Latte. I look at her and say, "Decaf Venti Soy Latte?" (I'm lactose intolerant, it's gotta be soy) She winces and pulls it down, she used whole milk. Strike two.

So then they process it, get it right, pass it over (suitably apologetic, thankfully). The cashier comes over and hands me a coupon for a free Frappucchino (or however you spell that thing), which is of course useless 'cause they make them all with milk. Blech. My secretary will enjoy the thing later.

BTW, I was always told it was called in this order:

iced (if applicable)
size
caffeine
syrups
milk
drink

Which explains my iced venti half-caf caramel skim latte :)

Hmmm... in my store, we call "non-fat" instead of "skim." But the order is right, I think....

Sorry they effed up your drink, Moose. I *never* mess up a drink order; at least not more than five or six times a day, heh heh :P

For some odd reason everytime I order it Venti Decaf Soy Latte, they change it to Decaf Venti Soy Latte, so that's how I order it now. *shrug*

I'm struggling to remember how we did it at Caribou when I worked there.. I think:

Iced (if applicable)
decaf
cup size?
milk choice?
extra shots?
flavors..
drink name>.. but I dunno.

I just went and bought an espresso machine 30 minutes ago..so I'll make my own lattes in the morning hahahah.

I hardly ever want them when I'm home, though - it's always when I'm out that I get the craving for soy milk with some decaf in it. :-)

Just as a frame of reference ... you should consider that incompetence is at least slightly better than incontinence. Just ask Florence Henderson how embarassing that is ... though she might try to sell you some Depends instead of a Decaf Venti Soy Latte :-)
