So, I decide with all the bru-ha-ha going on about gay marriage to check out what the requirements are for registering as a domestic partner here in DC and what, if any, benefits there might be to doing that.
I go to the DC.gov web site and do a search on "domestic partner." Nada. I get domestic violence, immunizations, volunteer opportunities, but nothing on the DP program.
So I check the web sites for our two gay councilmembers, David Catania and Jim Graham. David has nothing on his site under constituent services, and neither does Jim. To add insult to injury, you can find out how to register your dog on Jim's site, but not your domestic partner.
I call both offices to complain, leave messages with various people, and find out from David's office that it's on the Department of Health's web site, because DCDH manages the program. Not exactly intuitive, but at least it's up on the site.
The next call is to the Chief Technology Officer's office to complain about the web site search engine. They're looking into that now and hopefully will get back to me soon.
Will post here what the outcome is of all of this.
