Miss Manners
Aug. 13th, 2001 11:02 amFrom Sunday's Washington Post:
Dear Miss Manners:
Is it proper for a woman who has eaten lunch with another woman to take out her mirror, lipsticks and lip pencil and set them upon the table and then apply her various techniques of lip painting? The gal who pulls out her mirror and other lip equipment said it was being "sexy." Being a person who goes into the restroom to floss and maybe apply lip balm, I just wondered.
You are using "proper" and "sexy" to describe the same act, Miss Manners notices. Before allowing her thoughts to stray to this interesting proposition, she feels obliged to tell you that mixing food and makeup is neither.
