You never quite realize how precious basic life activities, like walking, are until you can't do them well.
I'm walking, and it's not too terribly awkward, but it ain't exactly smooth, either. I'm definitely slower than my normal pace (and much slower than I was in the space boot - go figure), but is nice to be out and about with minimal protection (the ankle's in a wrap under the sock, just in case). It's funny, I've been here at the new BGA for 9 weeks and 7 of those were in the space boot, so that's definitely been more "normal" for me than not, at least to the new co-workers. Some folks have noticed, some have not. I'm surprised my slower pace hasn't been noted by more of them, but perhaps since I now look like I'm walking at a "normal" pace instead of my usual frenetic self it's not as bad as if I were shuffling slowly down the hall.
