Mornin'

A lovely morning here in DC. There's a bit of haze, and some splotches of fog lying over the park. The temp's not too bad, as I just learned when Miss Natasha fairly demanded to be let out on the balcony to roll around on the concrete. Silly kitten.

So, packing my stuff this morning to bike down to Hains Point (Hain's Point? I can't find a definitive answer as to whether there is or is not an apostophre there) and go embarass myself swim. Given that I'm hosting [livejournal.com profile] discord35 this evening after his event I'll likely not go running with the Front Runners tomorrow morning, but I think I might want to make this my normal weekend mornings - swim Saturday, run Sunday, and do so with groups who'll keep me going. Exercise has typically been a solo activity for me; I value the time alone on the running trails; but I think it's time to explore other options. Good old externally motivated me needs a) a plan and b) reinforcement of that plan. And if participating with some groups would help further my triathlon goals, I'm for it.

Neither one actually. It is Haines Point. :P

...or as people who ran Marine Corps Marathon in 2001 or earlier, "the spot of evil." (Me, I think they're all big babies. Boo hoo, no spectators and high winds. Whatever. I, for one, am super duper excited that after it being out of the picture the past two years that it's back in the course as of this year. Hurrah!)

Exactly!

It's all about the flat. I'd trade in Capitol Hill for a second loop through Haines Point, easily.

(Come to think of it, we traded in the hill at the Navy Annex in Crystal City for Haines Point this year. A very wise trade indeed.)
