I Love/Hate Technology

There are times when I really hate technology.
Knowing that there was this suite of software for my phone that is supposed to let you back up and synchronize data on your phone, and knowing that this would be a desirable thing (to share all my Palm/Outlook contacts with the phone), I went out and purchased an IR dongle for my PC. I got IR because I have more devices that can connect via IR (three) than via Bluetooth (one), so it would be more useful in the long run. Got the IR dngle in, got it all hooked up, and its running well. I can connect via the Palm, and the IR screen recognizes my 3650 is there.
Then I installed the Nokia PC Suite. Oy. First time, enough Windows errors that I had to restart it a second time (it does so once during install), and then it wouldn't find the phone. Plus the "connection manager" thing they claimed should be there wasn't there. So I uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. Got the connection manager, and that shows the 3650, but the other tray icon never "connects" to the phone. Which means the PC Suite never gets past the "you need to connect to the phone" startup screen.
Makes you want to pitch the whole damn thing out the window. Maybe another "uninstall/install" round is in order. Ugh.
Anyway, time for bed and I'll deal with it more tomorrow evening. At least I got laundry done tonight around the computer mess.
