Back to semi-normalcy
Sep. 12th, 2001 09:15 amBack at the office. A couple of folks have taken advantage of the "unscheduled leave" policy here at work, which I can understand as they have kids who aren't going to school today because school officials in this area are idiots when it comes to things like this.
It's work as usual here, though a tad quieter than normal at the moment. Rode my bicycle in to avoid the potential mess with the buses downtown around the White House. The National Mall (where all the monuments and museums are) was eerie this morning - blocked off by police tape and cars to keep folks off the Mall. Runners and cyclists were still out (obviously, since I was there), but no tourists wandering around. Had to take the long way around the Washingon Monument (I normally ride up the hill and around the base), dodging a homeless guy brushing his teeth outside the bathroom at the foot of the hill. But got in okay, and much nicer than a bus ride.
