Time for the trimming of the friends list. :-p I only took off those folks who didn't list me on theirs as well. None were that compelling, so screw 'em. ;-) (actually, on second thought, don't screw 'em - it would waste too much energy)

I think you went about it honorably...there are some on here who've handled something like that in a less-than-honorable manner, but you, at least, did it nicely.

Relatively speaking---getting dropped by a "friend" on the LJ is no fun.

It does get rather silly after a bit. I've maintained a low profile, so my friends are only in the late 20s/early 30s for overall numbers, but still...

Most folks just add people as they see fit. I usually add someone if they've added me, after I've checked to see if I actually want to read them or not.

Really, it's up to the individual. Just be warned that LJ people tend to get -very- testy when they get removed from people's friends lists (I don't, but I'm an exception).
