Okay, verdict so far on using orthotics in the running shoes: Eh.
They didn't really feel any different from my regular motion control shoes, truth be told. Which was a good thing. I was expecting the arches to feel more severe than they did, so mechanically on the legs and feet everything felt fine.
The heart rate was, as might be expected, higher than I'd have liked it to be, but so be it. That'll come down in time with more regular training.
So far so good. Let's hope that keeps up!
Now I just have to get clipless pedals for the bike and get myself readjusted on that to prevent a recurrence of the tendonitis...
