"White noise"
Apr. 14th, 2001 07:33 amI awake in my apartment and
listen
to the noises as they filter
into my consciousness.
The hum of the fridge,
the whir of the fan,
the buzz of the computer,
the ticking of the clocks,
all of it making this
horrid little symphony of
noise
which is determined to
prevent me from hearing the
silences
that would otherwise
be present.
Even the park outside
is not immune to the
effects of all this
sound.
The cars rushing by,
the buses with their stopping and starting,
the trucks and their engine brakes,
the horns angrily calling out
drown out the quiet songs
of the birds as they herald
the dawn
and I am left
with a surplus of
noise
that invades everything
I do.

DESIRE
Darn, in that tube-top
You make me almost forget
you are my cousin
