Sunglasses

It was just pointed out that I neglected to post about the other big consumer purchase gone wrong, sunglasses.

I had purchased some Rudy Project frames with the idea of getting the optical inserts, filling them with my prescription, and having semi-decent looking sunglasses for once.

Well, the inserts came in yesterday, got those, tried to get the prescription filled, and it seems I'm too blind to do that. The inserts won't support above -4 diopters and I'm at -4.25. And it seems Rudy doesn't make an insert for these that's strong enough. And, more importantly, my extraordinarily long eyelashes hit the damned inserts when they were in. So, those went back today as well.

Both the phone and the glasses were taken back for a full refund, with no restocking fee (yay!). So my cards are none the worse off for the adventure. :-/

They would be if people didn't break shit while they had it. :P

If the shit's broken, then they shouldn't accept the return.

That's all well and good, but sometimes the damage isn't obvious in the brief time you get to accept a return. Maybe you bought the glasses and sat on them, and twisted them back into shape to return them, but even though they look okay, the frame is still weaker and if the company tried to sell them again, they'll likely fall apart pretty quickly. People do crap like that all of the time, so restocking fees don't surprise me in the least.

It could be worse, you could be Ray and have diopters in the 6s. That boy is blind. :O
