I was under the impression that security in the Metro would be upped this morning because of the bombings in London (the usual response to such things). If it was, it wasn't visible. Save for two guys in those metro orange vests chatting (and not looking at people going into the station) outside the Columbia Heights station, there was no evidence of an increased security presence. :-/

there was one police officer at the outside entrance to Union Station that I saw, and he was standing at the reader stalls. Where were the 5 or 6 on Segways that I usually see?

If anything, the metro ride this morning was a lot more enjoyable. Usually when I get on, it's packed. Today there was plenty of room everywhere.

People are quick to dismiss an overseas terrorism tragedy.

Yeah, again, the US idea of "security" goes a long way from what the Israelis have pretty definitively defined.

A couple of shaneequas in orange vests working for TSA does nothing to make anything more secure.

there was an armed metro transit police officer in my car on the yellow line this morning. not sure if it was just coincidence.
