Well, if one has to work over the weekend, at lest one can get comp time. :-) Thank you for the extra eight hours of leave, Congress!
Yup, worked most of Saturday, off and on, and some on Sunday, drafting and redrafting legislation as Congress churns away at stuff before their August recess. Nothing quite like getting phone calls at home from folks at work in your office building on a Saturday. Not to mention calls from the Hill, and others in outside industry. How did I get here again?
At least they've not slapped a Blueberry on me yet. I still value not being reachable 24/7, thankyouverymuch.
Escaped some of it on Sunday by going out beyond the reach of cell phones in Virginia (yes, dears, there are parts of Virginia that get absolutely no cell phone coverage, as I discovered in the middle of a conference call...). K kidnapped me and we went out to see Luray Caverns. Despite having gone to undergrad in the Valley, and having seen signs for the place for decades now, I'd never been. It was a fun day trip. Not one I necessarily need to repeat, but was fun to get the heck out of town, even if just for the day.
Unfortunately, I came home to more emails and drafting, but it was fun while it lasted.
